About the Role
The Waste & Resource Management Branch provides a number of services to both the council and community in the area of waste management. The branch takes a lead role in the formulation of a new waste management strategy to align with the sustainability vision of council and advocates and manages solutions to deliver on this strategy. The branch also focuses on resource conservation.
We are looking for a Waste Facilities Officer to provide weighbridge and gatehouse facility services at Council’s Waste Transfer Stations. In an average day you will:
- Undertake weighbridge or gatehouse operations in accordance with adopted SCC Waste Management and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements.
- Apply and collect approved fees and charges, produce receipts and reconciliations of monies received. Input and record all transactions utilising computer systems and software or by other means as required.
- Preparation of basic reports, including data collection for reporting purposes; and
- Duties in relation to opening and closing of the facility, weighbridge and gatehouse including site security.
About you
You’ll have demonstrated knowledge of, or ability to quickly pick up, Council’s Waste Management and Environment policies as related to waste facilities.
You will have strong customer service experience and a demonstrated ability to perform efficient and accurate financial transactions, including receipt and reconciliation of monies.
You are a team player with experience working under limited supervision, with manual dexterity to undertake minor labouring tasks.
It is a requirement of this role that you are available for work on any day, including weekends and public holidays, as part of normal work schedule.
You must hold a Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence and be available to work at any Council locations consistent with certified agreement and organisational requirements.
Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal History Check.
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
