What You Will Achieve

The Access Data Expert (ADE) will establish and jointly lead the Market Access strategic partnership with Medical Affairs to develop Pfizer’s position as a leading innovative biopharmaceutical company in the development and use of high-quality real-world evidence. The role will partner closely with the Market Access team and Medical Affairs Data Expert (MADE) to provide subject matter expertise and leadership, ensuring high-quality RWE strategy development, methodological alignment and governance, for pipeline and inline products The role works closely with the with the Medical Affairs Data Expert (MADE) to understand and develop external partnerships with real world evidence groups and thought leaders, including national government and non-government health agencies/organisations, faculties, academics, methodologists, clinical informaticists and clinical data scientists. The focus of the ADE will be on developing partnerships with stakeholders related to Market Access and Health Economics and will be the Pfizer Single Point of Contact with these stakeholders. The role will work with Medical Affairs and Market Access to lead integration of RWE into strategic plans and the design, conduct, analysis and publication of RWE studies whose purpose is to gain and maintain access via the PBS and other payers. The role will partner internally and externally to provide expert advice and thought leadership to RWE policy development.
How You Will Achieve It

  • Lead RWE strategy to support reimbursement and access for medicines and vaccines across the business.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for real world evidence activities and projects from early concept stage, bringing in medical and scientific insights from the external community
  • Provide methodological and technical expertise to Medical Affairs and Market Access to facilitate learning and the application of new methods and rigorous approaches to developing high-quality real-world evidence
  • Partner with the Medical Epidemiologist& Real-World Data Specialist to compliantly deliver the Australian and New Zealand engagement strategy with industry leading, innovative approaches to develop real world data and evidence that communicate the value of our medicines, and enable patients to access them, with a focus on shaping the environment for our pipeline
  • Manage design and implementation of specific RWE studies and projects, applying high quality analytical methods and innovative designs to generate credible andhigh-quality, protocol-driven Medical RWE, and support relevant publications in collaboration with Market Access, PHI, Medical Affairs, BAI and other colleagues as appropriate.
  • Communicate and advocate effectively to influence the organization to support the strategic use of RWE and the development of strategic and methodological best practices
  • Conduct RWE study feasibility assessments, includingidentifying internal / external real world data sources
  • Create real world insights informing hypothesis generation, go/no-go and other decisions
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to create high quality RWE from rigorously designed protocols


  • Qualifications in Pharmacy or other Life Sciences. Post-graduate qualifications in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or Health Services research.
  • 7+ years’ experience working in real world data analytics in healthcare, clinical or translational research, pharmaceutical Research & Development, or similar.
  • Understanding of market access/HTA and the use of real-world evidence to gain and maintain reimbursement.
  • Deep knowledge of established and innovative real-world evidence research methods with extensive experience in a range of data such as electronic health records, claims data and patient registries.
  • Experience with protocol development and execution for non-interventional studies using a variety of analytical techniques applied to various database.
  • Good understanding of the Australian and New Zealand healthcare data environment.
  • Ability to lead and prioritise multiple complex projects with proven ability to assess feasibility, develop strategy and develop and deliver high quality data.
  • Experience within Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices or affiliated industry preferred.
  • Proven track record working effectively in a cross functional team, able to work seamlessly across multiple teams and levels of leadership, both locally and globally.

  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas preferred.
