About the Role:

The Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network (FUNLHN) is deeply committed to delivering accessible, effective, and culturally meaningful care to Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities across rural and remote South Australia.

As part of SA Health’s drive to Close the Gap and improve outcomes in line with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan, we’re offering a unique opportunity to join our team as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner – Emergency Department.

In this important role, you will bring an Aboriginal lens to emergency care, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide culturally safe, person-centred clinical services. You’ll assess and deliver clinical interventions for Aboriginal patients—including those with complex needs—while supporting acute and sub-acute responses, hospital avoidance strategies, and transitions to care closer to home.

You will play a key role in improving engagement with health care, ensuring Aboriginal patients are supported in treatment and care plans, and contributing to better health outcomes and life expectancy for Aboriginal South Australians.

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager – Emergency, and working in partnership with the Aboriginal Health Unit, you will be supported both culturally and professionally in a collaborative environment that values your knowledge and expertise.
