Your opportunity to join our Independent Retail Sales team in QLD!
Reporting to the Regional Business Development Manager (RBDM), we are looking for a highly motivated and energetic salesperson to join our Independent Retail team (Metcash & Independents), working closely with the RBDM to execute the sales plan and maximise opportunities across the portfolio.
This position will suit someone who thrives on working in a high-paced environment and who enjoys the blend of hunting for new business as well as maintaining and growing existing accounts.
Based in our Lytton office, this hybrid role comes with a competitive salary package, including a fully maintained company car.
Key responsibilities:
- Attend and be actively involved in the daily State S&OP call ensuring key actions are executed promptly
- Execute customer call cycle for designated customers and store visits as directed by the RBDM, actively hunting new business and retaining existing accounts
- Build rapport with Metcash Area managers, enhancing local market knowledge of stores to identify sales opportunities
- Determine best outcome of excess stock, seeking guidance from RBDM on price, customers to approach and short-term sales strategy
- Align customer supply chain with Inghams’ supply chain to ensure promotional volume is available and pre-priced items are available
- Ensure regular store checks on Freezer planograms & instore inventory checks on best sellers and support in-store promotional activity as required
- Be first point of contact for State Customer Service team regarding orders and pricing queries and provide ad hoc support with complaints and customer requests
- Maintain a program of ongoing training of selling skills in field and in team meetings, supported by continuous updates of product and company knowledge embedding the STOS skills programs
- Travel required monthly/ as needed to regional areas (e.g. Far North QLD, Western QLD)
Key requirements:
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment selling short shelf-life products
- Highly motivated with excellent sales skills and confidence with selling & cold calling
- Natural ability to build relationships and maintain high customer engagement
- A well structured and organised approach along with excellent time management
- Well spoken with a high work ethic and standard of personal presentation
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing/ FMCG environment will be highly regarded along with experience dealing with independent retailers and grocery retail trade
- Experience working in a large, complex business and able to work well cross-functionally
- Desire to learn and willingness to accept change as required
- Full driver’s license and ability to travel monthly
