Advanced Trainee – Palliative Care

An accredited post suitable for an accredited advanced trainee in Palliative Care to complete the two core FAChPM 6-month training modules ‘hospital consultant-liaison’ and ‘community setting’. The trainee is expected to have interest in the management of general medical conditions from a palliative perspective. Existing proficiency in the assessment and management of patients with palliative and general medical conditions is essential.

Essential Requirements:
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent)
- Valid NSW Working with Children check.
- Cleared National Police check.
- Aged Care Check for Australian Government funded positions.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
- You must take all reasonable care for yourself and others and comply with any reasonable instruction, policies and procedures relating to work health safety and wellbeing.

1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
2. RACP advanced trainees (Palliative Medicine and other subspecialties), Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine trainees, Clin. Foundations in Palliative Medicine (RACP) trainees, Faculty of Pain Medicine trainees and Family Medicine Program trainees or as detailed under Qualifications above
3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team including leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
5. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written), time management, problem solving and computer skills.
6. Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
7. A professional attitude and flexibility in work role with a preparedness and ability to participate in after- hours overtime and on-call rosters and the required rotations both between services and geographical location to deliver patient care (including rural locations if applicable to the stream)
