About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated pharmacist to join the Cancer Services team at CALHN and undertake a two-year Cancer Advanced Training Residency. This formal, structured program is designed to support progression toward advanced practice and leadership roles in cancer pharmacy.
As a resident, you will rotate across key cancer service areas, gaining hands-on experience in inpatient oncology and haematology units, as well as the outpatient oncology day centre. You will work alongside experienced cancer pharmacists, contributing to best-practice patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration.
This role is ideal for pharmacists with a minimum of two years’ experience in hospital clinical pharmacy. Prior experience in cancer pharmacy is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will also complete the SA Health Pharmacy Training Package for Clinical Verification of Cancer Therapy by a Clinical Pharmacist.
As a Pharmacist, you will deliver high-quality, comprehensive, and cost-effective pharmaceutical services to both inpatients and outpatients. This includes providing professional dispensing, clinical support, production, and patient counselling to optimise drug therapy and ensure safe, effective medication management. Your expertise will support improved patient outcomes as you work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to overall healthcare delivery.
In this role, you will also provide expert drug and therapeutic advice to medical, nursing, and allied health professionals in line with hospital policies, SA Health guidelines, and legislative requirements. You will play a key part in maintaining excellence in clinical practice, supporting departmental initiatives, and contributing to ongoing quality improvement. Qualifications
Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registration or eligibility for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.Communication & Teamwork
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and accept supervision, as well as to work independently using initiative.Organisation & Technical Skills
Demonstrated organisational ability, attention to detail, and accuracy, complemented by sound technical and manipulative skills. Completion of pre-registration training in a hospital or community pharmacy setting.Knowledge & Adaptability
Sound knowledge of clinical pharmacy practice, drug dispensing, medicines information, patient counselling, and relevant legislation. Proven flexibility, resilience, and capability to adapt to change within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
