Aged Care Quality Officer

- Band 6 salary, commencing at $49.41 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation (dependent on skills and experience)
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced policy officer to review, analyse and update procedures that support the delivery of quality and safe care within Council’s Aged and Disability Services to support the implementation of the Aged and Disability Services Quality and Clinical Governance Framework.
You will also provide a high level of project support to the Senior Coordinator Community Wellbeing in relation to the completion of audit rectification projects.
Responsibilities
Conduct a gap analysis of the existing suite of procedures against compliance obligations in relation to:
- new Aged Care Act 2024, Aged Care Rules 2025
- strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards
- ACQSC audit findings, policies, guidelines, audit evidence collection tools for re-registration
- Support at Home and Commonwealth Home Support Program manuals and guidelines
Review and finalise procedures and work instructions required to support quality and safe care and regulatory compliance, including (but not limited to):
- Incident reporting and investigations, including open disclosure
- Feedback, complaints and whistleblowers
- Antimicrobial stewardship (AMS)
- Infection and prevention control (IPC)
- Eliminating restrictive practices
Work with the Communications and Training Officer to develop an implementation plan to ensure all new and updated procedures are understood and embedded in practice by relevant employees of Council and associated providers
Key Requirements
- Proven experience and expertise in reviewing and drafting policies and procedures to support the quality and safety of aged care services
- Sound knowledge of and experience in clinical governance, risk management, quality accreditation, auditing frameworks and related processes
- Comprehensive understanding of current and emerging legislation, standards and program guidelines relevant to the community aged care sector
- Effective project management, communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams to achieve desired outcomes within set timeframes and budget
- Proven experience in working in a fast paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on supporting teams through change
