The opportunity we have available


Organised within the departments Chief Operating Officer Group, the Information Technology (IT) Division’s purpose is to connect people and technology, empowering the department to excel.
IT Division is responsible for the consolidated provision and support of stable and secure IT Systems, applications, and services to all department users across all States and Territories, including our Indian Ocean Territories and Norfolk Island, as well as supporting seven Ministerial offices, six Groups, and coordination with portfolio entities.


The division provides the digital collaboration and communications tools necessary to connect a geographically dispersed workforce and to optimise hybrid working arrangements. We manage industry and public facing digital systems, deliver desktop services to over 2,200 staff, support over 30 office locations across Australia and oversee the department’s cyber security capability.


The advertised position is for an APS5 to join our ICT Operations Team as the Intranet Content Administrator, managing and maintaining the department’s on-premises SharePoint 2019 Intranet environment.


The Intranet Content Administrator works within the Digital Workplace team and provides all-round intranet content support for the team including administrative tasks and managing content requests from across the Department.


What will you do?


The role is varied and dynamic, but typical duties include:

  • Provide administration support to the team including managing the ticketing queue (Service Requests and Incidents).

  • Assist as required in the ongoing maintenance of the department’s intranet such as archiving content and maintaining permissions.

  • Contribute to delivery of improved processes and procedures within the team.

  • Update and maintain content on the department’s intranet, ensuring accurate, relevant and timely information and content.

  • Regularly review usage statistics and search logs as well as make recommendations for improvements to content and/or search functionality.

  • Provide training and support to Content Editors and authors, ensuring compliance with internal standards and style guides; and providing support to intranet users and refer technical problems as appropriate.

  • Work collaboratively with other IT teams to test post system upgrades and Intranet enhancements.

  • Develop and maintain relevant documentation such as user guides for Content Editors.

  • Ensure content adheres to WCAG accessibility standards, the organisation's web Style Guide, and Department document templates.

  • Keep up to date with digital best practice including user experience and accessibility as well as make recommendations for changes.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate their capability against the APS5 Work level standards.


The successful candidate will have an eagerness to learn and develop within the role and the Digital Workplace Team, have an enthusiastic nature and be a team player. The candidate will have prior experience within a similar role in content administration.

  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, delivering information in a variety of formats for a range of audiences.
  • Collaborate across diverse teams, using your exceptional interpersonal and engagement skills to engage with senior leaders and a wide variety of stakeholders, valuing different perspectives, contributions and backgrounds.
  • Have a growth mindset with a willingness to continue to learn, develop, and foster an environment for team members to do the same.
  • Moderate experience in publishing content/information on content management systems such as SharePoint 2019 or other similar web-based content applications.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training to content authors.
  • An understanding of the importance of data integrity for the retrieval of information.

Employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development,Communications, Sport and the Arts is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including


  • Citizenship: candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting your application.

  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances.
