About the role
We need an experienced leader to support a network of Oscar Wylee optometry services. The role is commercial and hands-on: driving profitability, ensuring compliance, coaching managers to lift store performance, supporting new store openings, and building strong customer service standards. Reporting to a Regional Manager, this role involves regular travel within a defined area.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor budgets, rosters, and sales KPIs to maximise profitability
- Ensure stores comply with lease terms and trading hours
- Oversee headcount requirements and recruitment to optimise labour costs
- Lead operational setup and support for new store openings
- Deliver training and coaching to lift sales capability, leadership skills, and customer service standards
- Build brand presence and grow customer base
- Support managers to solve complex issues and address non-compliance
- Drive short-term (<1 year) initiatives and change management
About you
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing 6–10 retail or healthcare sites, or senior store leadership in high-volume, profit-focused environments
- Proven record of coaching managers to deliver sales, profitability, and operational improvements
- Experience leading or supporting successful new store openings is strongly preferred
- Skilled in building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels
- Strong focus on compliance, training, customer experience, and commercial outcomes
- Decisive, solutions-focused, and able to think creatively under pressure
- Optical industry knowledge is useful but not essential
- Tertiary studies in leadership or business/retail management are an advantage
