If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join our Business Services Centre team based at our North Ryde, Sydney office. This is a permanent role with a hybrid work arrangement.
Reporting to the Payroll Team Leader, you will be responsible for assisting in the timely preparation of payroll related data, reconciliations, payments, month end activities, reporting and analysis along with payroll duties as specified by the Business Services Centre (BSC) management team.
The role requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve payroll issues raised through the Customer Support System, along with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to ensure desirable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the operational aspects of payroll processing and associated activities, including wage/salary disbursements, overpayment recovery, leave management and reporting are accurate and delivered within appropriate timeframes and comply with relevant legislation and within segregation of duties guidelines.
- Assist with Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting requirements.
- Demonstrate full capability in processing payroll using the relevant HRMS in line with all payroll deadlines as specified and agreed by Payroll Team Leader and in accordance with business SLAs.
- Keep up to date with statutory requirements.
- Adhere to all Downer policies, procedures and standards.
What you will bring
- 2+ years’ experience in a payroll processing role is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering superior customer service.
- Exposure to multiple Enterprise Agreement (EAs) and high-volume (1,000+ employees) payroll processing is beneficial.
- Experience in SAP, Oracle V12 and/or Oracle Express HR is advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices in the payroll operations.
- Knowledge of Service Now is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications- particularly Excel, Outlook and Word.
