Ministerial and Parliamentary Services (MaPS) Division.
Ministerial and Parliamentary Services (MaPS) is a Division within the Department of Finance delivering services to, and for government. MaPS provides Parliamentarians, former Prime Ministers and their respective employees employed under the MOP(S) Act with a range of facilities and services to assist them in undertaking their duties.
Human Resources (HR) Frameworks Branch.
The Human Resources (HR) Frameworks Branch is responsible for providing HR services to staff of parliamentarians employed under the MOP(S) Act including payroll services, IT systems support, policy development and advice. We work closely with a range of stakeholders including other government departments and agencies in relation to the employment framework covering MOP(S) Act staff.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We have a vacant EL1 Assistant Director position in the HR Policy Team within Ministerial and Parliamentary Services. HR Policy team members will be required to provide policy advice to relevant stakeholders and develop and implement effective guidelines within the complex MOP(S) Act employment framework.
As the Assistant Director, HR Policy, you are required to undertake complex tasks and work with limited direction. You are expected to be able to show good judgement and political awareness, and to work flexibly within a small team. You can make timely, effective decisions that show accountability and consider stakeholder impact while developing systems to promote accountability and team outcomes.
Your duties will include:
- Leading the team to deliver high quality advice to Parliamentarians and Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 employees on pay and conditions of employment.
- Interpret and provide accurate, consistent and timely advice, both verbally and in writing. Tailoring advice according to the audience, including translating a complex employment framework into easy-to-understand information.
- Monitoring your own workload and that of your team, working flexibly and collaboratively to prioritise urgent enquiries and process a high volume of correspondence.
- Other duties as directed to ensure the outcomes of the HR Policy Team are met, including working flexibly and the ability to multi-task and assist Senior Executive where required.
- Leading and delivering projects, while maintaining the delivery of other team priorities.
