We are currently seeking an efficient and skilled Assistant Hatchery Manager to join our team at 134 Springs Road Mareeba, Qld, 4880.
The position of Assistant Hatchery Manager is primarily responsible for assisting the Hatchery Manager in the operation of a commercial Hatchery in all aspects.
The operation of the Hatchery involves receiving fertile eggs from the commercial farms or hatcheries, production and despatch of day-old chicks, maintenance of the Hatchery and equipment, meeting customer chick quality requirements and meeting legislative and regulatory requirements related to the operation of a poultry Hatchery. This position must also optimise hatchery performance and cost control through good leadership skills.
The position reports to the Hatchery Manager and has direct working relationships with the Senior Management Team, Baiada Technical Manager, customers, Baiada contractors and suppliers, Broiler Livestock Managers, the Environmental Coordinator, Area Livestock WHS Coordinator, Live Bird and Fertile Egg Production Planners, all Baiada Hatcheries, Breeder and Broiler Farms.

- Minimum Operating Standards
- Animal Welfare Standards
- SQF Quality System,
- Quarantine Procedures,
- Workplace Injury Management System,
- Environmental Management System (EMS) (including ISO 14001)
- Workplace Health and Safety System (WHS)
Requirements:
- Previous experience in livestock management
- Current driver’s license (company car etc where applicable)
- Excellent leadership skills including conflict resolution and problem solving
- Excellent people skills
- Knowledge of the poultry livestock industry, with particular reference to hatchery processes.
- Detailed knowledge of hatchery operations, including animal welfare and the technical aspects of hatching premium quality chicks
- Ability to work in a team environment to resolve problems or improve systems
- Previous experience/knowledge of Quality System including SQF HACCP, Environmental Systems and Workplace Health and Safety
- A genuine concern for the welfare of the stock
- Quick response time
