The Traineeship
Based in Caloundra, this is a neat 12-month traineeship that will earn you well rounded experience within the procurement & finance divisions within a government organisation. With no two days the same, the successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate adaptability, show initiative and a can-do attitude.
You will learn to organise and assist with the ordering, purchasing and supply of project requirements to allow infrastructure delivery related work to proceed in a timely manner.
Some of the accountabilities that will be developed, including expectations involve:
- Undertake "End of Month" and "on request" reporting to enable accurate project or work order tracking. Prepare procurement documentation in liaison with relevant line managers to facilitate procurement and ensure correct recording of financial transactions.
- Provide support on procurement and financial administration matters to project/team members
- Identify and assist in the implementation of procurement practices and processes which significantly reduce materials and contractor costs
- Assist with and provide guidance to support staff with the calling, assessment and awarding of tenders
- Provide general administration support to project teams to meet systems requirements and ensure successful project delivery to the client
- Communicate in a professional manner with internal and external stakeholders that encourages cooperation in complying with technical, business, and administrative requirements.
- Ensure good governance is maintained in all financial and administration responsibilities
- Acts in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct. Models ethical behaviour and consistently applies those ethical standards to self and others
- Commitment to Transport and Main Roads’ Workplace Health & Safety Policy of achieving a Zero Harm workplace
What will you bring to the role?
Our team will help you develop during the traineeship, but there are some minimum requirements and key traits we’re looking for:
- An aspiration to work in an office environment & business administration
- Ability to prioritise with good organisational skills & attention to detail
- Able to work full time and commitment to successfully complete traineeship
- Good computer skills and ability to learn new software programs
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills
- You’ll have a positive attitude and willingness for ongoing learning
- Year 12 completion highly regarded
- Drivers Licence
- Ability to work Monday to Friday (full time hours)
- Provide two professional references & gain a police check
- Successful candidates will participate in a pre-employment medical including a Drug & Alcohol test

Community Solutions is a non-for-profit organisation operating as a commercial business, providing apprentices and trainees to a variety of different businesses throughout Queensland. We provide apprentices and trainees important career guidance and opportunity to earn while they learn. Dedicated Field Officers are assigned to apprentices and trainees to provide ongoing support to completing their chosen trade qualification.
