About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Specialist - Business Services to join our business based in Adelaide, reporting to the Category Manager - Business Services.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
The Category Specialist is responsible for the establishment, placement and management of the appropriate contracting arrangements with capable suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business, which, through effective relationship and performance management, maximise value and minimise risk.
Key responsibilities include:
- Act as a member of the category management team, collaborating with and providing category specific direction and advice to the procurement team, all lines of business and corporate functions as required
- Manage end to end procurement activities including, but not limited to, expressions of interest, requests for information, requests for quotation, requests for proposal, requests for tender, supplier negotiations and contract development and execution
- Support the management and execution of enterprise category strategies, ensuring that category objectives are delivered
- Ensure adherence to contractual obligations through effective contract management, including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow, flow down of contract amendments and alignment of agreements in order to achieve overall category strategy.
- Create and maintain formal contract management plans where required
- Manage category/enterprise level supplier negotiations and finalise supplier agreements in accordance with set procedures and Delegations Of Authority (DOA)
About YOU
- A high level of understanding of contractual terms and agreement development is essential.
- We require a professional with prior experience in a category management or an end-to-end procurement role.
- Previous experience in categories such as engineering consultancy, professional services, financial tax, and security services will be highly regarded.
- Candidates must have a demonstrated background in the development and negotiation of contracts with key suppliers.
- The ideal candidate will have proven experience working effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, can apply attention to detail and appropriate risk-adverse mechanisms.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
