About the role
The Claims and Recovery Support (CaRS) division has been created within WorkSafe to focus on supporting the recovery and return to work of injured workers. CaRS is transforming how we provide support and service to injured workers to improve the outcomes they achieve. As part of this, we are helping shape and execute on key strategic priorities for RTW Victoria through pilots, innovation and key strategic programs of work.
As a Claims Technical Specialist you will provide expertise across the Claims and Recovery Support division to proactively provide highly specialised technical information and advice, whilst continuing the focus on injured worker experience and improving outcomes for injured workers.

Key Responsibilities
- Proactively coach, mentor and share expertise with CaRS to build and develop technical capabilities within the CaRS Division
- Provide expert advice and analysis for all technical claims management queries relating to policy, legislation, product knowledge, systems, processes or procedures
- Provide leadership across the CaRS Division to proactively provide highly specialised technical information and advice
- Contribute to the quality of claims management decisions and outcomes, providing technical expertise and support
- Work collaboratively with the Team Leader, Specialists to develop business solutions and improve capability of the team
About you
You will have strong claims operational experience along with extensive knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Workers Compensation Legislation, paired with highly developed skills in coaching, influencing and relationship building.
You will also be comfortable working within a dynamic and agile environment with the ability to support others through change.
Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Advanced communication capabilities and technical skills demonstrated by experience within the insurance compensation industry in a technical role
- Ability to build rapport and empathy with injured workers and their support networks
- Capability to develop and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Knowledge of WorkSafe and its stakeholder landscape
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field (desirable)
