The Environmental Operations Branch are responsible for the preservation, management and enhancement of council’s diverse range of coastal, environmental and recreational assets and, in partnership with our community, the rich biodiversity of the region’s landscapes.
On an average day you will:
Undertake routine coastal resource management activities associated with the operational management of Council’s natural foreshores.
Effectively coordinate and lead small high performing work teams and ensure the provision of quality customer service at all times.
Lead projects or operational site activities which will include on-the-job support of teams in terms of material, work processes and work performance.
Supervise contracted machine works for beach and access maintenance
Undertake beach access tree and vegetation management, pruning and vegetation dispersal and brush cutting
About you
As a requirement to the role you will hold a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management or equivalent in a related discipline or demonstrated equivalent, locally relevant experience in a coastal area management field.
Demonstrated experience in working outdoors in public spaces with minimal supervision and leading small effective, high performing teams and coordinating employees, contractors, materials, and conflicting priorities to achieve required outcomes.
Sound written and oral communication skills with the ability to use business technologies including MS Office Suite, mobile devices, asset (i.e. CONFIRM), customer and property management systems.
Demonstrated problem solving and communication skills necessary to follow direction and or knowledge of or the ability to acquire knowledge of relevant legislative requirements
