About the Role
The Commercial Analyst is responsible for analysing market trends, customer data, and competitive intelligence to support the development and execution of commercial strategies for residential energy products such as rooftop solar, home energy storage, and electric vehicle chargers. This role will work closely with the sales, marketing, and product teams to identify opportunities, optimise pricing and incentives, and develop tailored solutions for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver data-driven recommendations in collaboration with product teams on product pricing, business models, and enhancements to maximise both value to customers and profitability.
- Develop commercials models and recommendations to maximise revenue and profitability for each product using combination of desktop and cloud tools.
- Support the design of customer incentives, financing options, and sales programs.
- Conduct competitive analysis to understand pricing, product features, and go-to-market strategies of key competitors in the roof-top, residential batter, EV, and related consumer energy resource domain.
- Monitor and analyse market data, industry trends, and customer buying patterns for residential energy products.
- Track, automate and report key performance metrics related to sales, customer acquisition, and market share.
- Coordinate regular updates on profitability of individual and product portfolio on an ongoing basis.
- Support on annual budgeting activities including longer term portfolio gross margin analysis.
About You
To thrive in this position, you’ll be highly analytical, possess a keen eye for detail with the ability to present and translate complex data into insights for cross-functional stakeholders (at varying levels of seniority). A strong understanding of the energy industry and the drive to actively contribute and shape an area which is still largely unwritten will be a key to your success.
Other attributes and skills we'd love to see include:
- Strong technical skills including proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, analytics tools such as Power BI and financial modelling tools / methods.
- Prior experience using SQL based programming, data analytics and reporting.
- Prior experience in a finance, strategy, or commercial role, in the energy or cleantech industry.
- Familiarity with residential energy products, customer buying behavior, and industry trends a distinctive advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, engineering, or a related field.
