About the role

The Legislative Assembly's Environment and Planning Committee can examine any matters connected with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and the Department of Transport and Planning and their related agencies.

The Committee Manager oversees the progress of inquiries, drafting of reports and the provision of research and procedural advice to the Committee as required. The role is responsible for leading high-level research and analysis and developing recommendations for the committee's consideration. This includes negotiating and liaising with key stakeholders, including members of parliament, senior government and non-government officials and the public.

The role also includes the management of key administrative staff including a Research Officer and Committee Administration Officer and the provision of regular support at the Chamber Table during sittings of the Assembly.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have strong leadership and teamwork skills, experience in managing staff through complex projects and the adaptability to handle difficult situations. Your research and writing skills, highly developed analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills are crucial to ensuring your team meets its objectives and obligations.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills will assist you to successfully engage with a range of stakeholders and you are prepared to accept a variety of views and opinions.

You will also have a sound working knowledge of parliamentary procedures including relevant legislation and standing orders.
