Northern Rivers Community Gateway has been delivering the Rainbow Region Kids (RRK) OSHC program for many years. Our well-established, accredited, child-centred program provides before school care, after school care, and vacation care across various locations in the Northern Rivers region.

We’re currently seeking an experienced and passionate Coordinator to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our RRK services. In this leadership role, you’ll supervise and support a team of Assistant Coordinators and educators, ensuring the smooth delivery of safe, inclusive, and engaging programs for primary school-aged children.

Join a community-based organisation where your work directly supports our purpose and values — creating inclusive, child-centred spaces where every child can thrive.
About the role
  • Oversee multiple Rainbow Region Kids services as the Nominated Supervisor, Responsible Person, and Educational Leader.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Assistant Coordinators and educators, ensuring services meet regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Develop and monitor programming that reflects the My Time Our Place framework and meets the diverse needs of children.
  • Coordinate rostering, staff development, risk management, compliance, and budgeting in collaboration with the Senior Manager – Business Support.
  • Liaise with families, schools, community organisations, and external agencies to support child wellbeing and inclusion.
  • Attend and lead regular staff meetings, including a weekly Assistant Coordinator meeting and monthly all-staff meeting at the Lismore Head Office.
Working hours and flexibility
  • 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Core hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break (negotiable)
  • Travel required across the Northern Rivers region
  • Motor vehicle provided, with reasonable private use permitted under organisational policy
What we offer
  • Pay in accordance with the Children’s Services Award Level 6+
  • Access to relevant CSA allowances, including the Educational Leader allowance
  • Salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay
  • Bonus Christmas leave (as per policy)
  • Discounted childcare for staff enrolling their children in RRK programs
  • Uniform and laundry allowance, plus split shift allowance where applicable
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Monthly all-staff breakfast meetings and team connection opportunities
  • Career progression within a supportive and community-focused organisation
What we’re looking for
  • A relevant Diploma or Degree and/or 5+ years of experience in a similar Out of Hours Care coordination role
  • Knowledge of National Quality Framework, My Time Our Place, and Family Assistance Law
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
  • Experience coordinating programming, compliance, rostering, and service operations
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Experience with OWNA or similar childcare software (desirable)
  • Understanding of WHS, child safety, and inclusion practices in education and care settings
Additional requirements
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • NSW Driver’s Licence
  • First Aid in an Education and Care Setting (or willingness to obtain)
  • Approved Child Protection and Food Safety Supervisor certificates (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to be appointed as the Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader across multiple sites
