About Us

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

CCV

The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 12,000 criminal, common law, and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder, and related offences.

There are a total of 80 Judges of the Court and over 300 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.

The County Court is committed to continuous improvement in accordance with the International Framework for Court Excellence. The Court's vision is to be a leader in court excellence, delivering the highest standard of justice to the community and inspiring public confidence in the rule of law.

About the Role

The role is responsible for operational oversight, risk and quality management of court and administrative processes, and people management. It operates within a complex, demanding and sensitive environment that requires the capacity to exercise sound judgement, excellent organisational skills, change management and high level negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

You will be responsible for:

  • leadership and development of a team, including registry staff and case managers
  • collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including the Lead Judge, Clinical Services Manager and General Manager to deliver high quality services
  • identifying and managing risks for effective operations
  • the application of people leadership and development, program improvement, project management and governance skills
  • leading adherence to best practice standards and to ensure the ongoing achievement of the program objectives and outcomes
  • managing the development, implementation and continuous improvement of policies and procedures in accordance with relevant legislation, Government policy and County Court operational policy

This is a fixed term position until 30 November 2025

About You

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in people leadership and development, program management and improvement, project management and governance. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • sound knowledge of evidence-informed case management frameworks within the forensic context
  • experience in overseeing daily operations of a program or project
  • sound knowledge of relevant legislation and court processes/environment
  • a specialised understanding and relevant experience within Drug Court programs and/or therapeutic jurisprudence

Qualifications

A qualification in criminal justice, health, law, mental health, welfare, and/or social work will be considered highly desirable.

Specialist knowledge in courts and therapeutic justice will be considered desirable.
