Sydney Creative is looking for a warm, upbeat, creative person to join our close-knit team. We run a variety of hands-on workshops including painting, candle making, soap making, polymer clay, jesmonite and more. Our classes consist of public group classes, private hens parties and team building events. We run these sessions from our studio in Redfern, but also as mobile sessions.
This is a casual position to start with, there’s room to grow into a part-time role and eventually take on more responsibility for the right person.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll be joining a young, energetic team, so we’re after someone with great vibes and a can-do attitude. You’ll need to be:
- Bubbly, personable and intuitive - someone who knows how to read the room and bring positive energy to every session.
- Confident and adaptable - you’re cool with thinking on your feet and helping out where needed without being asked.
- Hands-on and a team player - we help each other out and do what we can to be helpful, especially between classes where turn-around times might be tight.
- Comfortable leading a class solo - including public workshops and private groups.
- Genuinely excited about creativity - be able to show us projects you've worked on so far, mediums you enjoy working with. You may not be familiar with all the mediums we use in our classes, but an excited attitude and willingness to learn is essential.
- Punctuality and time management are a must. Our schedules are tightly planned, and participants often arrive early. There’s no room for lateness - we need team members who can arrive for their shifts on time, and manage the time during a class effectively as allowing a class to run over-time is not an option.
- Availability - able to work on weekends and evenings (non-negotiable), with some weekday availability preferred. This job requires late finishes (10pm), please consider if this fits in with your lifestyle before applying.
- Adaptability - You need to be comfortable running in-studio sessions as well as grabbing an uber to a location for on-site events.
- Location - You need to be based in Sydney with no working restrictions (we’re not able to hire anyone on a 6-month visa).
- Must have or be willing to get a Working With Children Check, and be comfortable running kids classes.
A bit about us
Sydney Creative is a well-loved studio in Redfern where creativity and good vibes go hand-in-hand. We pride ourselves on running high-quality classes that leave people feeling happy.
A large part of what we do are private events such as hens parties and team building events. We're hoping to find someone who can run fun and engaging classes not only for our public groups, but also for our private sessions.
You’ll be working with a friendly and dedicated team who genuinely enjoy what they do. We're looking for someone who can fit in with the existing team easily. If you’re the type who's bubbly, smiley, picks up on what needs doing, and loves being creative, we want to hear from you.

Job Type: Casual
Pay: $30.35 per hour
Application Question(s):
- Why do you want to work at Sydney Creative, and what do you think makes you a good fit for this role?
- This role involves leading classes with large groups, including hens parties and team-building events. The hens parties can get rowdy. How confident do you feel managing a group of 20–30 people on your own?
- Are you available to work weekends and evenings on a regular basis? What days and times are you generally available? Are there any regular commitments we should know about (e.g. uni, another job)?
- How many hours per week would be ideal for you?
- We are a small, fast-paced team where everyone pitches in. Can you give an example of a time when you took initiative or supported a teammate without being asked?
- Do you have any sewing experience? If so, please describe it. (Sewing is a bonus for this role but not essential.)
- Do you have any restrictions on your working rights in Australia? (e.g. are you on a visa with limited work rights, such as a Working Holiday Visa?)
- We’re looking for someone who brings fun and warmth to the room. What would someone say it’s like to be in a class with you leading it?
- Which creative mediums do you already have experience with?
