Role Overview

Applications are invited for the position of Customer Service Officer, based at Council's Administration Centre. The successful applicant shall ensure the provision of high-quality customer service to all customers seeking to do business with Council. The Customer Service Officer is one of Council’s first and most important contact persons with the public and should be aware of the responsibility of promoting Council as an efficient and effective organisation.

Essential:
Qualifications
- Higher School Certificate or equivalent OR NSW School Certificate/ Record of School Achievement and satisfactory experience in administration.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in cash handling, including varied methods of receipting and daily balancing;
- Demonstrated experience in a Customer Service role, both in a face to face and digital environment and a commitment to the highest level of professionalism;
- Experience with various computer applications, including Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, and the use of EFTPOS devices; and
- Strong time management and proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment and work independently.
Desirable:
Qualifications
- Customer Service Qualification or willingness to obtain qualification within 12 months of commencement with Council which is acceptable to the Director Corporate and Community Services;
- NSW Class C Drivers Licence;
- Appointed as a Justice of the Peace or willingness to obtain within 6 months of commencement with Council; and
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated negotiation and problem solving skills including the ability to deal with a diverse range of customers in an empathetic manner.
Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The classification for the position will be up to Operational Band 1, Level 2, Grade 2. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $999.85 to $1,054.90 gross per week.
