SeaLink WA/Captain Cook Cruises (ASX:SLK) is looking for bright and energetic individuals who have a strong work ethic, a great smile, and an enthusiastic attitude to join 'the friendly crew in blue'.
- We have Deckhand roles for marine superstars wanting to showcase their deck skills on our ferries to the iconic Rottnest Island.
- We have Deckhand roles for hospitality superstars wanting to showcase their skills on our scenic Swan River Cruises.
About the Role
The Deckhand role requires a high level of interaction with customers. As the face of the company, this role is responsible for assisting with vessel operations while providing exceptional customer service to the passengers on board. This is a hands-on position, assisting passengers, fulfilling deckhand, and cleaning duties.
To ensure safe and efficient vessel operations, clear communication, physical fitness, and the ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines are paramount in this role.
Working in close conjunction with the Vessel Master, duties will include:
- Deck duties, including rope work
- Onboard sales, stock control and reconciliation
- Ensure the highest standards of customer service at all times
- Assist with the safe, efficient, and timely boarding and disembarkation of all passengers
- Assist passengers where necessary with their luggage
- Perform cleaning duties
- Attend to passenger comfort and safety
About You

- Self motivated
- Able to perform under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate to passengers form a variety of backgrounds and provide assistance
- Have a happy and outgoing personality
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic and 'Can Do' attitude
- You are safety-minded and able to follow company instructions
- Be well presented at all times
- Ability to interact with guests in a friendly yet professional manner whist promoting the philosophies of SeaLink WA
- Available to work public holidays, weekends and evenings
These key requirements will be complimented by experience and skills in the following areas:
Ferries to Rottnest Island:
- Senior First Aid Qualification - Essential
- Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate - Essential
- Elements of Shipboard Safety Qualification - Essential
- Marine Experience (Commercial or Recreational) - Essential
- Current Driver's Licence - Essential
- Proven track record of customer service
Swan River Cruises:
- Senior First Aid Qualification - Essential
- Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate - Essential
- Current Driver's Licence - Essential
- Excellent attention to detail - Essential
- experience in the Hospitality industry - Preferred
- Proven track record of customer service
