Role Description/Criteria
St Thomas Primary School is seeking a highly motivated, visionary and skilled school leader to join our team at the beginning of the 2026 school year, as Deputy Principal. This key executive leadership position is central to driving excellence and aligned practices across all areas of the school - operationally, in learning and in wellbeing.
About the Role
As a key member of the school’s Leadership Team, the Deputy Principal, Learning & Teaching plays a pivotal role in the strategic planning, implementation and monitoring of school and system-wide improvement goals.
The Deputy Principal will manage the school’s daily operations with efficiency. This encompasses forward planning for yearly, termly, weekly and daily organisational needs of the school. The successful candidate will have an exceptional level of proven organisational skills.
The Deputy Principal will also hold the Learning & Teaching portfolio. This pivotal role drives the strategic actions for the school’s research-informed pedagogical vision. The successful candidate will have knowledge in pedagogy and practice that underpins the MACS Flourishing Learners Position Statements: Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement.
In partnership with the Principal, the Deputy Principal will promote a culture of high expectations, inclusion and practice grounded in research, modelling professional standards with compassion, calmness and knowledge. Leading with heart and purpose, the Deputy Principal will work in close collaboration with all school leaders and staff, ensuring a united investment in excellence, equity and engagement; championing for the inclusion and full flourishing of every student.
