About the Role
As the Director of Sales & Distribution, you will lead the Proactive and Reactive Sales teams, driving performance across multiple market segments. You will be responsible for achieving budget goals, developing strategic annual action plans, and fostering long-term relationships with key clients and industry bodies. This role requires a dynamic leader who can balance team management with personal revenue generation and market share growth while championing the hotel’s identity as a lifestyle and experiential destination.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and develop the Sales team to achieve individual and collective goals.
- Create and implement annual sales plans that reflect the hotel’s lifestyle positioning.
- Communicate strategic plans to the Leadership team, integrating experiential elements into market strategies.
- Represent the hotel at trade shows, industry events, and sales trips, showcasing Pier One as a destination for curated experiences.
Account Management & Business Development
- Saturate and penetrate accounts across multiple segments.
- Conduct ad-hoc sales calls to key corporate and TMC clients.
- Solicit new business and manage total account relationships.
- Maintain accurate account data and reporting via various sales platforms.
Team Development & Performance
- Select, coach, and mentor Sales associates.
- Manage the LPP process for direct reports.
- Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and guest-centric thinking.
Revenue Generation & Market Analysis
- Achieve personal and team revenue targets through experiential upselling and tailored packages.
- Maximize revenue by integrating local partnerships, bespoke events, and curated guest journeys.
- Understand market trends and competitor positioning, especially within the lifestyle and boutique hotel space.
- Close high-value opportunities aligned with the hotel’s brand narrative and guest expectations.
Client Engagement & Relationship Building
- Build and strengthen relationships with clients by offering personalized, memorable experiences.
- Conduct site inspections and FAM trips that showcase the hotel’s lifestyle elements-design, location, culinary, and cultural immersion.
- Collaborate with off-property sales channels to align efforts with the hotel’s experiential brand.
- Partner with catering counterparts to deliver unique group experiences.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of reports, budgets, and expenses.
- Adhere to and enforce all hotel policies and procedures.
- Effectively utilize sales resources and support staff to deliver seamless guest experiences.
Hotel Executive Responsibilities
As a member of the hotel’s Executive Committee, you will also:
- Contribute to the overall strategic direction and operational success of the hotel.
- Participate in Executive Committee meetings and collaborate on cross-functional initiatives.
- Support the General Manager in driving hotel-wide performance, guest satisfaction, and brand compliance.
- Champion Marriott’s culture and values, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Lead by example in upholding service excellence and operational standards across departments.
- Act as a key liaison between Sales & Distribution and other hotel functions, ensuring alignment and synergy.
- Represent the hotel in community and industry engagements, enhancing brand visibility and reputation.
About You
- Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Hotel/Tourism Management.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in a sales leadership role within an international hotel chain.
- Experience in 5-star or lifestyle hotels preferred.
- Proven success across various market segments, with a strong focus on MICE, weddings, and groups.
- Proven team leadership skills
- Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for curating and selling immersive guest experiences that reflect the local culture and hotel’s unique personality.
