Position Summary
We are seeking a full-time Dog Handler and Trainer to join our passionate and dedicated team. The successful candidate will contribute across multiple core areas of our operations, including dog training, handling, hygiene, grooming, and client care.
Key ResponsibilitiesDog Training
- Teach dogs to obey basic commands using training techniques tailored to each dog’s personality and attributes
- Conduct behaviour modification and rehabilitation programs
- Lead group classes, workshops, and seminars for clients, providing instruction on training techniques
- Provide feedback and guidance to dog owners regarding training progress and behavioural development
Dog Handling
- Supervise and assess groups of dogs to ensure their safety and overall wellbeing
- Provide enrichment through structured play, exercise, and scheduled activities
- Lead or transport dogs throughout the facility using leashes or other appropriate methods
Hygiene and Canine Care
- Perform regular cleaning and upkeep of all areas in compliance with OH&S and company standards
- Ensure dogs have access to clean water and are fed according to individual care plans and owner instructions
- Assist with additional kennel and care duties as required
Grooming
- Conduct basic grooming services including washing, drying, nail trimming, brushing fur and teeth
- Support grooming tasks such as clipping and coat maintenance when required
Client Communication & Engagement
- Build strong relationships with clients through consistent, transparent daily feedback
- Respond to client enquiries via phone and email in a professional and timely manner
- Create and share photo and video updates of dogs to enhance client engagement
Administrative & Record Keeping
- Maintain detailed records of behaviour, training progress, grooming, and health information
- Prepare reports and documents for owners as needed
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in dog handling, training, or similar canine care roles
- Background checks will be required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage dogs of various breeds and temperaments with confidence and compassion
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
