About National Trust Queensland & the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

As we continue to welcome visitors to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and to share our stories with guests, students and team members, we are seeking an Education Officer in a casual capacity, to join our Education team to support and deliver a variety of resources and programs.
About the Role
Reporting to the Education Manager, as our Education Officer, you will be delivering educational programs and engage with community, including hosting school visits, deliver Education Workshops both on and off-site, conducting outreach programs in schools, hosting school holiday programs and promoting the work of the Sanctuary at community events.
This role will have the immediate focus on delivering an engaging and interactive way, which showcases Australian wildlife & conservation topics to a variety of different age groups and backgrounds to students ranging from pre-school to tertiary level.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have the capacity to work in a variety of roles to all age groups. You will have flexibility and availability through the week to deliver successful outcomes for this role, which includes working over school holiday periods for our Vacation Programs. Other skills and attributes we are looking for include:
- Previous teaching experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret curriculum is desirable.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to communicate in memorable, informative, and interesting ways to participants of differing ages, learning levels, cultures, and backgrounds.
- Previous experience working with wildlife and knowledge is desirable.
- Teaching qualification/experience.
- Physical ability to walk distances, carry loads up to 10kg and to perform all requirements of the role in all weathers is essential.
- Good administrational skills to manage program bookings and events and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current Blue Card or eligibility to obtain a blue card (or exemption) and Driver’s license is essential.
- Current Driver’s License is essential.
- Current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
