Why this Role?

Reporting to the Assistant Director-General, Service and Infrastructure Planning, the Executive Director, Strategy and Service Planning is a critical leadership position within the Infrastructure Services Division. This role demands a strong professional leader with capability to drive strategy and planning to ensure Infrastructure Services Division is responsive to and informed by an evidence-based, system-wide view of the medium and long-term needs (5 years +) of communities, supporting the Department to deliver quality, safe and contemporary built environments

The Executive Director, Strategy and Service Planning will:

Lead a range of portfolio responsibilities spanning property services, new schools and growth planning, infrastructure strategy and early-phase infrastructure project planning.
Lead the operations of the Strategy and Service Planning unit, developing business plans and budgets, managing physical and human resources, prioritising, allocating and managing project work to ensure that the Department meets legislative requirements and community expectations.

Key Duties and Accountabilities:

Lead the property services function of the Department overseeing acquisition, strategic advisory, and leasing tenure and operational services.
Lead the development of new school business cases to inform the new schools capital budget submissions,
Lead the development of growth learning spaces program and other programs, to inform budget submissions and the forward capital program.
Lead the early-phase project planning function of the Division developing robust project initiation documentation to support transition into project delivery phase.
Work across the Department to direct the infrastructure response on emerging priority programs including the Special Schools Mobilisation program.
Provide strategic, authoritative advice to the Assistant Director-General, Deputy Director General, other members of the Executive Management Team, and other key stakeholders (including the Minister) to ensure effective planning and implementation of infrastructure programs and services.

The Perfect Fit:

We require a values-based leader with both advanced people leadership skills and deep management experience, who demonstrates effective results through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You will feel confident in mobilising a multidisciplinary team with four Director reports, and a number of direct report Project Director leads across a broad portfolio of responsibility.

You will have a record of success as a leader in a large and complex organisation with outstanding leadership ability.

As an executive your performance will be assessed according to four key accountability perspectives: financial, stakeholder and outcome, internal business, and learning and growth.

When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
