In this role, you’ll oversee the planning and delivery of critical forest infrastructure works—managing road construction, fire trails, bridges and other assets to support access, safety and operations across the estate. You’ll lead contract procurement and supervision, implement best-practice approaches to fire prevention and silvicultural burns, and ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently and in line with regulatory and environmental standards. You’ll also represent Forestry Corporation on Bush Fire Management Committees and play a central role in protecting both forest and community assets from fire, pests and weeds.
We would love you to have:
- Ability to lead and manage a team over a geographically dispersed area
- Understanding and commitment to safety within an operational forest environment
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with key stakeholders, including representatives of government, fire & emergency agencies, community, regulatory agencies, land managers and neighbours.
- Demonstrated experience in forestry management and forest operations, including fire management, planning and suppression, road works, weed and pest control and silviculture
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice methodologies
