The successful applicant will be a motivated, driven and skilled Fitter(General) who is able to work autonomously and take direction well.
The duties are as follows:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair faults in diesel engines used in agricultural equipment (tractors, harvesters, sprayers, loaders, etc.).
- Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on machinery.
- Overhaul and rebuild engines, gearboxes, differentials, hydraulics, and drivetrains.
- Test, adjust, and calibrate mechanical systems to ensure performance efficiency.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults, wiring, alternators, and starter motors.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, rams, and hoses.
- Work with electronic control systems, sensors, and diagnostic software (CAN bus systems common in modern machinery).
- Perform breakdown repairs in the field, often under time-critical harvest or planting conditions.
- Maintain workshop tools, service equipment, and ensure proper calibration.
- Document service work, parts used, and hours worked.
- Undertake mechanical and maintenance work as required.
To be successful for this position the applicant will ideally hold the following Skill Level:
AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
