We are seeking an experienced FOI and Privacy Officer who will be responsible for administering the VBA's Freedom of Information (FOI), Privacy and Data Protection functions and other duties as requested by the Manager, Corporate Governance. In addition to strong stakeholder management skills, the role has a solid understanding of the FOI and Privacy and Data Protection frameworks and will ensure that the VBA meets its obligations under the relevant legislation.
To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:
- Relevant experience in Freedom of Information and Privacy.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking statutory compliance work within a client-focused environment acting for government, local government or statutory corporations, or performing FOI, Privacy and Data Protection related functions.
- Demonstrated experience in making rational and sound decisions based on the practical interpretation of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate and influence to achieve outcomes and proactively liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding FOI, Privacy and Data Protection policies and principles.
About the BPC
The Building & Plumbing Commission (BPC) is Victoria's new regulator for building and plumbing.
It brings together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV), and the domestic building insurance function of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) into one organisation.
Key functions related to building and plumbing regulation will come together under one roof, including registration, inspection and compliance, practitioner discipline, dispute resolution, and domestic building insurance. These services will now part of the BPC and will be fully integrated over the next 12 months.
