Primary objective
Provide a detailed level of food service to patients and clients of the Alice Springs Hospital adhering to Hazard Analytical Critical Control
Point Food Safe, Environmental Health, Infection Control, and Workplace Health and Safety principles
Context statement
Alice Springs Hospital Food Service is HACCP Food Safe certified and provides meals to patients, internal clients, hospital kiosk and meals
on wheels clients. This position covers three main areas of food service and additional food service activities as directed. This position
may be required to work across all areas of food service.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake Food Services duties including cleaning, food preparation, pot wash and meal plating and distribution.
2. Identify basic dietary requirements in accordance with the Therapeutic Diet guidelines for patients whilst assisting with menu choices.
3. Adhere to Hazard Analytical Critical Control Point Food Safe practices.
4. Participate in a rotating roster with early and late shifts covering 7 days.
5. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary teamwork practices and role modelling appropriate behaviours.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in
order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in a commercial or institutional food service environment with an understanding of food safety procedures
and standards including HACCP standards.
2. Demonstrated physical ability to perform demanding duties in a fast-paced environment.
3. Demonstrated understanding of hygiene and infection control practices, and WHS principles.
4. Demonstrated initiative, reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work as an effective team member
5. Preparedness and capacity to work shift work over a seven-day roster with shifts commencing as per roster cycle.
6. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills including verbal and written communication when assisting patients with menu choices.
7. Demonstrated ability to follow defined work schedule with good time management skills.
