The role:
Join our team at the heart of Queensland's stunning Whitsunday region! We're looking for skilled Truck Drivers, Tractor Drivers, and Backhoe Operators to play a vital role in the upcoming harvest at our state-of-the-art prawn farm in Proserpine.
As a Harvest Operator, you'll be essential to our success, operating a range of machinery to harvest our world-class product. Your expertise will directly ensure the integrity of our prawns and, most importantly, the safety of your fellow team members.
Please note: these are full-time contract positions offering an excellent Monday to Friday roster, with shifts rotating weekly between an early start (3:00 am - 11:30 am) and a later start (8:00 am - 4:30 pm, subject to change to suit harvest needs), concluding in April/May 2026.
You will also be required to work some weekends throughout the season, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas and Easter.
Responsibilities:
- Operating heavy machinery (including backhoe, excavator, and tractors) to efficiently harvest prawns.
- Completing all tasks in a safe and efficient manner, with strict adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
- Delivering on a variety of farm needs including roadworks, groundskeeping, seaweed harvesting, and truck driving.
- Collaborating effectively with a great team to achieve daily operational goals.
Role requirements:
- Proven competence in operating heavy machinery in various conditions.
- For backhoe operators a valid ticket/licence is essential.
- For truck and tractor driver roles, a standard car (Class C) driver's licence is required.
- For tractor drivers: demonstrated experience and skill in towing long trailers in tight, confined areas.
- Some basic technology skills are required as job instructions are managed via an iPad.
- A reliable, can-do attitude and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- The ability to work in all weather conditions, including rain.
- Availability to work some weekends throughout the season, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas and Easter.
- Aquaculture or agriculture experience is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s licence (HR licence is desirable).
- Legal right to work in Australia.
