About the Role:

The preference is that the Head of Community Supports will be based in Tamworth, however a negotiated alternate location is possible dependent on the needs of the successful candidate.


The Head of Community Supports holds strategic and operational responsibility for leading Challenge’s community hub-based services, which are designed to support individuals with disabilities.


This dynamic leadership role is focused on empowering participants to live meaningful and independent lives through a person-centred approach. The successful candidate will bring energy, innovation, and empathy to actively engage with people with disability, their families, communities, and our dedicated frontline teams.


We are seeking a people-focused leader with a deep commitment to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities, ensuring the highest standards of care and support are maintained.


This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact—driving operational excellence, strengthening frontline leadership, and elevating the quality and reach of service delivery across our hubs.

  • Program Management: Develop and implement program strategies and initiatives to meet the needs and goals of individuals with disabilities
  • Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise program staff, including program supervisors and other team members. Provide leadership, guidance, and ongoing support to ensure staff deliver

  • Participant Support: Collaborate with participants, their families, and caregivers to develop and implement individualised support plans

  • Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrate a strong understanding and working knowledge of compliance requirements within the disability services sector

  • Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality assurance mechanisms to continually improve program services inline with the Challenge Community Services policies and processes

  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, funding agencies, and stakeholders

  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular reports on program performance, outcomes, and financial status for the Executive Director – Community Services

About You:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Social Work, Disability Services,
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership position within

    disability services or a related field and industry trends

  • Strong knowledge of disability support regulations, best practices,

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in budget management and financial oversight
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity, dignity, and independence for individuals

    who live with disability

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Science, Community Services, or a related field.
Requirements:
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Current NSW Working with Children’s Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current Police Check
