With continued expansion in SIL, Support Coordination, and Community Access, we are now seeking a dedicated and experienced Internal Accounts Officer to manage and improve our internal financial systems, compliance, and reporting.
Position Overview
The Internal Accounts Officer will play a vital role in managing our day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining robust systems that support compliance with NDIS and ATO requirements. This role is suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can work autonomously, and has a passion for accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage accounts receivable and payable using Xero or other accounting software.
- Follow up outstanding invoices and ensure timely collection of funds from NDIA, plan managers, and private clients.
- Reconcile all bank, Wise card, and corporate accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Manage payroll inputs in collaboration with HR and rostering teams to ensure SCHADS Award compliance.
- Prepare and submit BAS, superannuation, and PAYG in coordination with our external accountant or ATO liaison.
- Maintain compliance documentation for audits and funding requirements, including income and expenditure reports.
- Liaise with internal departments regarding client funding, service bookings, and financial discrepancies.
- Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and financial planning in line with business growth.
- Support preparation for external audits, including NDIS Commission audits and ATO reviews.
- Maintain confidentiality and data security across all financial systems and documents.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 2 years experience in an accounting or finance role (NDIS sector experience highly regarded)
- Proficiency with Xero and Microsoft Excel
- Sound understanding of ATO obligations, GST, PAYG, superannuation, and payroll legislation
- High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in solving problems
Desirable Criteria
- Prior experience in the NDIS or community services sector
- Understanding of SCHADS Award and NDIS pricing arrangements
- Cert IV or Diploma in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance
- Experience with claim processing through PRODA and NDIA payment portals
