As Head of Engineering for Domestic Payments, you will work closely with the Domestic Payments Crew Lead to deliver exceptional outcomes for our business stakeholders and customers. You are responsible for the technology strategy, engineering and delivery of world-class products, leveraging the best engineering practices to deliver once-in-a-generation transformational change in Payments.

- Have proven experience as a Technology Leader in defining a vision, shaping and defining a technology strategy and then executing against it.
- Have ability to build strong relationships across the enterprise and influence and align multiple stakeholders and teams to balance the needs of customers, business, and technical teams
- Are passionate engineers, who have led modern digital and cloud technology teams living and breathing a DevSecOps culture.
- Are experienced in defining and delivering technology architecture, solutions and platform design, whilst ensuring the alignment to the technology roadmap
- Embrace AI as a key part of modern engineering practices and utilise this to deliver both efficiency and new customer propositions
- Possess exceptional communication skills including ability to engage across all levels of the organisation from junior developer to Group Executive
- Leads and develops inclusive, high-performing engineering teams, leading a diverse team of over 150 technology professionals across multiple locations with a focus on continuous learning.
- Takes ownership and accountability of the performance and availability of the Crew’s assets including creating a culture that puts risk, reliability and cyber at the heart of design
- Fosters a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Create an exceptional risk culture and deliver industry-leading technology whilst ensuring appropriate risk management strategies are in place.
- Are able to define and execute a workforce strategy and manage the associated financials
- Passionate about delivering exceptional outcomes in a payments environment with knowledge of the payments domain is preferred
Tech Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks across the domain however skills and knowledge in the following areas will set you up for success in this role:
- Modern engineering practices centred around a DevSecOps culture
- Building and running cloud native, microservice based solutions with specific knowledge of AWS preferred
- AI powered engineering including tools such as GitHub CoPilot, Roo & Cline
- SRE best practices to drive high availability and reliability
- Operating in a mature agile environment with the use of CI/CD and automated release management to enable high velocity value realisation
