ROLE OUTLINE:

The role of the Performance team within Wavemaker is to deliver the highest excellence in Implementation Planning and Buying, spanning Social, Search, Programmatic and E-Comm, powered by data, technology, and automation, ensuring client campaigns are executed and amplified in an effective, efficient, and future facing way.
The role of Associate Director within the Performance team is to help shape and manage the delivery of client media plans.
Reporting of the role: Performance Director
Direct reports: Performance Managers, Associate Managers, Executives, Coordinators

KEY STAKEHOLDERS:
Internal Departments: Collaborate closely with your client team, including client leads, comms planners, strategy leads and other agency and group departments to manage expectations and collectively deliver the strongest outcomes for clients.
Media Owners: Establish strong relationships with our media partners at a Group Sales Manager level and Sales Executive level.
Clients: Establish a deep understanding of our client’s business and develop strong relationships with key client contacts.
Marketplace Team: Contribute to great teamwork with a supportive and positive can-do attitude.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

People

  • Openly communicate and collaborate with all internal key stakeholders and reports regularly
  • Hold regular performance evaluation meetings with reports throughout the year, setting SMART KPIs and creating a clear career development plan with them.
  • Overseeing workflow of junior members of the team and escalating any issues.
Clients
  • Establish an understanding of client challenges, objectives & initiatives.
  • Help build on the agency's reputation for outstanding client service.
  • Own relationships with clients at a Marketing Assistant or Marketing Manager level when it comes to Implementation Planning and Buying
  • Clear understanding of the in-scope services of your clients and the process for completing work above and beyond.
Product
  • Engage with our media partners to build knowledge of the media landscape and understanding of core media principles and the capabilities of each media touchpoint.
  • Engage with internal product teams including WPP Media proprietary product and service teams to ensure you have an understanding about their offerings and relevance to our clients.
  • Confident in your knowledge of media planning principles (e.g. scheduling, flighting, recency, effective reach theories, seasonality, market prioritisation, roles of all communication channels) and strong ability to utilise agency and industry tools to enhance and support planned recommendation.
  • Enrich on-going campaign optimisation to improve business objectives, such as ROAS and CPA, delivering across a range of touch points; sales, store visits, online submissions, downloads etc.
  • Complete and maintain all Performance platform certifications (Search, Display, Mobile, Video, Commerce).
  • Challenges the status quo offered by platforms, thinking critically about their solutions to get the best outcomes for our clients.
  • Use data within platforms to provide insights for client teams & clients to use across other marketing and advertising channels.
  • Ensure all reporting is clear, jargon-free and insightful for clients.
  • Support the development of the media plan (creating, developing, updating) including media plan reconciliation, and the update of plan changes, with detailed updates for internal stakeholders.
  • Able to construct and present robust Implementation plans, that are grounded in strategic priorities.
  • Brings innovation and creativity to the table, leveraging insights from across the market.
  • Manage the Implementation Planning and Buying function across all touchpoints, ensuring maximum value is delivered for our clients on a campaign by campaign basis.
  • Construct and present insightful and progressive post analysis reports.
  • Responsible for ensuring all financial and compliance processes are followed with 100% accuracy, including bookings and loadings
  • Seek to find, communicate and implement improvements in all aspects of the role.
Growth & Marketing
  • Collaborate closely with your Manager to identify, collate and showcase examples of great work from within the team, both internally and externally.
  • Build the agency’s reputation by contributing to entries for awards and competitions
  • Be a positive face of the agency at industry events, either related to clients’ category or our media partners.


ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience managing a team
  • Passion for Search, Social, Programmatic, E-Comm, Data and Tech
  • Strong, up to date, media landscape knowledge (confidently able to articulate macro consumer trends and the challenges and opportunities they bring).
  • Attention to detail
  • Extensive media buying experience
  • Problem solving mentality
  • Clear communicator, with strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrates well developed negotiation and Performance planning skills
  • Results Driven. Passionate about delivering business results for clients, with the ability to identify and clearly articulate what’s working and why.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
In 3 months:
  • Established collaborative relationships with all key stakeholders and internal reports.
  • A strong understanding of and can clearly articulate the agency and group proposition, core Performance processes and our way of working.
  • Immersed yourself in the team with an understanding of the status of all active and upcoming campaigns.
In 6 months:
  • Demonstrated your ability to deliver on all aspects of the role in an efficient, effective and proactive way.
  • Strengthened your key stakeholder relationships to deliver great team work consistently.
  • Managing the Performance processes for the team from end to end, ensuring that your manager and wider team are regularly updated.
In 12 months:
  • Taking on greater ownership for campaigns and clients – responsibility and volume.
  • Building strong relationships with publishers, representing the Wavemaker team appropriately and ensuring that campaigns are delivered to the highest quality
