As the Student Pathways Su pport Officer at the Melbourne Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, you'll play a crucial role in supporting Indigenous PhD students throughout their academic journey. You'll have the opportunity to foster the next generation of Indigenous health leaders, contribute to groundbreaking research, and build strong relationships within a collaborative, values-driven environment. Your work will directly impact the success of Indigenous students and contribute to the Centre's vision of accelerating Indigenous leadership in health.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support Student Success : Deliver initiatives like the PhD Familiarisation Program and Academic Shepherding processes, providing culturally informed guidance to prospective and current Indigenous PhD students .

  • Lead Recruitment and Outreach: Spearhead efforts to maintain a strong pipeline of Indigenous PhD students, including organising recruitment activities at key events and conferences.

  • Manage Student Pathways: Coordinate with the Faculty Graduate Research team on enrolments, scholarships, and candidature management for Indigenous PhD students.

  • Contribute to Strategic Initiatives: Support the delivery of workshops and conferences, while also advising other University faculties on Indigenous graduate research student recruitment and support.

You are a dedicated professional with a graduate qualification and relevant experience, possessing strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a passion for supporting Indigenous student success in a dynamic academic environment.

You may also:

  • Have a graduate qualification in a relevant field or equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of and respect for diverse Indigenous cultural practices and knowledge systems.

  • Possess experience in planning and delivering initiatives that support Indigenous graduate research students.

  • Excel in building productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including students, staff, and external partners.

  • Have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex work setting.

  • Be able to work collaboratively in a team while also taking initiative when working independently.
