Role Description
As the Team Leader, you fulfill the Byron Bay Ranga Vision & Values with all clients. Leading, growing & managing the Maintenance Team, in partnership with the Ranga leadership team.
Team Leaders are responsible for managing all field operations. They coordinate the procurement and scheduled use of resources such as labour, equipment, and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of work within budget, safety guidelines and quality standards. In addition, Team Leaders guide and mentor field staff and assist them in carrying out their duties. They also often serve as the primary interface between the customer and the crew.
Role Objectives
The primary objective of the Team Leader of Landscaping is to
- Deliver high quality Landscaping projects in an effective and efficient manner.
- Lead and manage the sustainable growth and development of the Ranga Landscaping Team to meet the demands of future projects deliverables.
- Overall customer satisfaction of clients
Functional Duties & Responsibilities
1) Business Strategy & Operations
A High Level of responsibility and involvement in the business strategy, planning process. Including the implementation and engagement of the team.
- Responsible for leading and engaging the team in the Vision, Mission and Values of the business.
- Successfully develop, lead and manage the team strategy in line with the broader business strategy and objectives
- Carry out all risk assessments and safety requirements to adhere with company policies.
- Ensure all staff onsite understand and adhere to company policy and standards.
2) People Leadership and Management
Responsible for the hiring, leadership, development and management of the Landscaping & Maintenance team. Including, but not limited to:
- Accountable for the performance of the team through regular 1-2-1 catch ups, goal and KPI setting that links to the overall business objectives
- Accountable for Workforce Planning, ensuring sustainable delivery balancing, client needs, team capacity and quality
- Accountable for the career development and progression of the team, including annual performance appraisals and supporting training and development needs
- Responsible for the engagement and culture of the team inline with the broader culture
- Ensure the effective and safe execution of onsite works by you and your Team.
- Train and develop gardeners and landscape assistants to increase their knowledge of plant materials and landscape maintenance.
3) Client Account Management
Responsible for leading, planning and delivering the Landscape and garden maintenance contracts.
- Responsible for handling new project enquiries, working with the Founder to build quotes for clients.
- Responsible as the main point of contact for all contracts, managing clients expectations and dealing with all issues in a timely and value adding manner.
- Responsible for reviewing labour and materials scheduled vs actual and planning workforce and ordering materials ahead of demand.
- Assessing landscapes and their ecosystems
- Surveying sites to identify existing natural resources, plant and animal life
- Advising on the impact of proposed changes to land use
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- 2 - 3 years experience as a landscaper
- 1 - 2 years of experience in managing a landscape and gardening team
- Strong client liaison and communication
- Strong knowledge of the Northern Rivers
- High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
- Must be a self-motivated individual who is accustomed to operating in a fast paced team environment.
- Excellent people skills, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done.
- Strong knowledge and use of all relevant machines utilised within the horticultural industry.
- Experience in soft and hard landscaping
- Certificate III or higher level in Horticulture and or Conservation and Land Management.
- Also a certificate III in Landscape Construction highly desired
- Knowledge of local native species
- Able to interpret drawings, plans, scope of works and quality requirements for landscaping projects
- Full Driver's Licence
- Desirable - Competent in use of machinery including excavators and relevant licence
- White Card
- Knowledge of WHS requirements
- First Aid Knowledge
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $85,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
