Lead Project Geoscientist x 2
  • Salary: $138,631 to $185,518 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term role: 2 years
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)
The Role
The Lead Project Geoscientist will join the Storage team, working closely with the Offshore Storage and Regulatory Manager and external geosequestration advisors to assist with the planning and delivery of the CarbonNet Project's geological storage program for greenhouse gas (GHG) assessment permit G-5-AP. This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and experience towards achieving regulatory approvals for CarbonNet's Kookaburra potential GHG storage site.
The Team
The positions of Lead Project Geoscientist form a part of CarbonNet within the Industry, Trade and Investment group.
The Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) Group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. ITI champions Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and international investment, international education and innovation. CarbonNet is jointly funded by the State and Commonwealth governments to investigate the feasibility of commercial scale carbon capture and storage in Gippsland.
About You
  • Demonstrated geological knowledge and experience in Oil and Gas or CCS in subsurface exploration or development projects. Experience in the Gippsland Basin would be advantageous.
  • Geoscientific skills and experience that would ideally include a combination of seismic interpretation, well correlation, core analysis, petrophysics, subsurface facies analysis and mapping, and well planning and engineering. Some experience with inputs to static and dynamic models and SLB Petrel or competitor software would be an advantage.
  • Advanced approach to risk assessment and the application of risk to determine the suitability of future monitoring plans for CO2 containment and conformance.
