As a Philanthropic Leadership Giving Officer you will:

  • With enthusiasm, identify, qualify, and cultivate prospective donors to support Deakin’s strategic fundraising priorities.

  • Conduct discovery meetings to assess donor interest and potential, referring to major gift officers when appropriate, and demonstrate your understanding of philanthropy

  • Use data insights from Deakin ARMS and related systems to qualify and manage donor prospects.

  • Be highly organised and maintain accurate and timely records of donor interactions in the Deakin Advancement CRM.

  • Coordinate donor engagement efforts and collaborate with the donor experience team to ensure seamless stewardship.

In a typical day, you will:

  • Analyse complex information, distil key issues, and communicate clear, logical solutions in simple terms.

  • Explore innovative approaches by drawing on diverse perspectives and applying creative problem-solving.

  • Prioritise tasks, evaluate progress, and select effective solutions while supporting and empowering your team.

  • Champion and implement change, overcoming resistance and clearly communicating its purpose and benefits.

  • Build strong relationships, seek and respond to feedback, and promote positive wellbeing across your team and stakeholders.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Relevant degree with substantial experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven success in delivering small to medium scale fundraising programs and meeting financial targets, ideally but not essentially in Higher Education.

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with experience in engaging donors and soliciting gifts.

  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Experience working across diverse teams in complex organisations and managing a broad portfolio of relationships.
