Victoria
Part time
1 day ago

We are a modern Australian law firm with a leading reputation. We focus on exceptional service, operational excellence and being at the forefront of employee experience. We work closely with Australian and international businesses, organisations and governments.

About the role

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Part-Time Legal Assistant to join our Melbourne Development Team on a job share arrangement, 3 days per week (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday). This role will work closely with senior and junior Development lawyers, as well as an award-winning partner.

This role offers plenty of variety, with the key responsibilities and duties being:

  • Liaising with clients and partners via email and telephone;
  • Drafting correspondence and Development related documentation;
  • Coordinating meetings (including proactive support for the lawyers when they are in meetings) and extensive email and diary management;
  • Creating, editing and formatting a range of documents;
  • Time entry, preparing bills and processing monthly billing;
  • Opening and closing of matters, including filing and archiving; and
  • Other general administrative duties.

We work in a hybrid way at Maddocks, with part of our week in the office, and also have wider flexible working arrangements, whether that's hours, place of work or the leave you take. We welcome the opportunity to talk to you about working flexibly.

About you

To be suited to this position, you will be a team player who prides themselves in exceeding all expectations and enjoys working in a high energy environment. You will have at least 3 years' experience working in a similar position within a private practice law firm. Your strong work ethic, adaptability, enthusiasm and proactive attitude, matched by your excellent communication and organisational skills, will see you thrive in this role.

Further skills that you will need to demonstrate include:

  • Experience in managing end of month billing (knowledge of Aderant Expert is advantageous but not essential);
  • The ability to prioritise and work efficiently in a time-sensitive environment;
  • A proactive approach, enthusiasm to work independently and excellent organisational skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high quality work; and
  • Polished secretarial skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word processing, PowerPoint and Excel spreadsheet skills

Why join Maddocks?

Maddocks is simply a great place to do great work. We foster a culture of collaboration, learning and engagement where you will experience:

Community involvement: give back to the communities in which we operate through our thriving pro bono and grants programs and staff volunteering initiatives.

Work flexibly: work in a hybrid way with part of your week in the office and support to set up your home office.
