Primary objective
The Literacy Intervention Officer works as part of Woodroffe’s Response to Intervention Team to screen for word recognition and
language comprehension difficulties. The Literacy Intervention Officer is involved in daily literacy program delivery, designing and
delivering small group interventions.

Woodroffe Primary School is a medium, diverse urban primary school situated in the City of Palmerston. The school includes a Preschool,

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Develop and deliver small group language comprehension, phonological awareness and word recognition interventions under the
guidance and support of the leadership team.
2. Deliver a systematic synthetic phonics program in consultation and coordination with the leadership team.
3. Provide administrative support to the leadership team, and teaching staff as necessary, assist with assessment data collection and
screening for student outcomes and needs and provide observations and feedback to teachers regarding student progress.
4. Prepare materials and resources to meet individual student needs.
5. Follow direction from school staff as well as school policy and procedures at all times.
6. Attend Literacy Team meetings, general staff meetings and contribute towards Educational Adjustment Plans.
7. Participate in classroom activities, outdoor activities, playground duties, and excursions by following school policy and procedures as
well as individual student management plans to ensure safety and welfare.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge of the school environment and relevant agencies that work as a team to support students with additional learning needs.
2. Ability to develop and maintain rapport and respect with all students and a diverse range of staff.
3. Demonstrated ability to act professionally at all times and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members and
clients.
4. Ability to lead small groups and supervise classes.
5. Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
