We are currently recruiting a Live Line Powerline Worker to join our Operations, People and Safety division in Albury. This role reports to various supervisors across the network and plays a critical role in the safe and efficient delivery of live line and general powerline services across Essential Energy’s high and low voltage distribution assets.
The Live Line Powerline Worker is responsible for construction, installation, connection, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground network infrastructure, with a focus on live line operations using Stick, Glove, and Barrier techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform live line and general powerline duties across HV and LV assets
- Undertake switching and access permit operations as directed
- Conduct inspections, testing, and reporting of network assets
- Install and connect services, meters, and related equipment
- Operate plant and equipment relevant to the role
- Adhere to company procedures and safety protocols Promote respect, equity, diversity, and inclusion across all operations
About You
As a Live Line Powerline Worker, you will bring proven trade skills and live line competencies, along with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork. You will be experienced in both planned and unplanned network operations and capable of working effectively in a dynamic field environment.
Required Qualifications/Skills
- Certificate III in ESI – Power Systems – Distribution Overhead, with national units of competency for Live Line Barrier, Stick and Glove
- Current Driver’s Licence
- WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate
- Current national Live Line competencies for Stick, Glove and Barrier Ongoing maintenance of all required licences and authorisations

- Chemical awareness and handling
- Manual Handling
- Environmental Awareness Switching and substation entry authorisations
Experience & Skills
- Demonstrated experience in Powerline Worker and Live Line operations
- Familiarity with audit, safety, and environmental procedures
- Knowledge of system switching and access principles
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills Basic computer skills relevant to the role
