Primary objective
Manage the housing and relocations work unit, ensuring the provision of high-quality housing to NT Police Force employees. Provide high
level advice to management and members on terms and conditions of employment as it relates to housing and relocations.

Context statement
Police members have unique employment entitlements regarding housing that require understanding and application in a variety of
circumstances and locations (NT wide). The Manager, Housing and Relocations must apply sound judgement and make evidence-based
decisions that can withstand scrutiny. The Manager, Housing and Relocations may be required to undertake travel to remote communities
by vehicle or plane in order to undertake on-site property inspections.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Management of the housing portfolio across the NT to ensure ongoing supply of suitable housing to meet current and future workforce

requirements.
2. Manage the operational and administrative functions of the housing and relocations work unit in urban and remote settings.
3. Provide sound advice to management and employees on housing and entitlement matters including the preparation of written

submissions and policies.
4. Develop and maintain effective collaborative partnerships with employees, managers, other NT Government agencies, private sector

real estate bodies and relevant unions and associations.
5. Prepare correspondence, reports and Ministerial Legislative Assembly briefs on housing and relocations entitlement related matters.
6. Develop and facilitate inductions regarding housing and relocation related matters to employees, in particular new recruits.
7. Undertake project administration activities including input into project planning and documentation, monitoring and reporting on

progress, quality and cost effectiveness of programs.
8. Assist in supporting the human resource functions for the Agency.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including the proven ability to negotiate and resolve conflict in a sensitive and

flexible manner and to engage with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
2. Demonstrated experience in the effective management of staff including the ability to provide leadership in an environment

undergoing continuous change.
3. High level organisational and self-management skills, partnered with the ability to think laterally and demonstrate initiative.
4. Sound working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act 1999 (NT) and the Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal

(NTCAT), or equivalent.
5. Proven experience in the successful management of a large residential property portfolio across multiple locations.
6. A current ‘C’ class driver licence or the ability to obtain.

Desirable
1. Experience providing human resource advice in relation to terms and conditions of employment.
2. Knowledge of terms and conditions of employment relevant to the Northern Territory Police Force.
