Job Description

This role sits within the Investment Risk and Compliance team, supporting Rest Investments in managing compliance and risk. The team ensures portfolio adherence to internal policies, mandates, and regulatory requirements, while also contributing to investment frameworks, policy implementation, and strategic projects. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the role plays a key part in strengthening investment compliance and enhancing the control environment.
Some key accountabilities of the role are:
- Advise and support the Investment Team on compliance and operational risk, including policy and procedure development.
- Monitor pre/post-trade activity to ensure compliance with investment limits; report breaches and coordinate resolutions.
- Oversee mandate compliance for internal and external managers, ensuring adherence to investment agreements.
- Track compliance with investment guidelines and risk limits across all mandates and aggregated portfolios.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, external managers, and the fund custodian.
- Lead improvements in analytics, data quality, models, and reporting.
- Ensure effective implementation of model risk management.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in finance, economics, business, actuarial studies or equivalent
- Key designations (e.g., MBA, CFA, CAIA, FRM) are highly desirable.
Required experience, understanding or credentials including:
- Demonstrated and proven experience in in risk and compliance within an asset manager, a superannuation fund or risk consulting organisation.
- Demonstrated ‘commercial’ approach to investment risk and compliance, including demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior decision makers and portfolio managers
- A proven ability to provide expert risk and compliance advice, while being able to manage multiple and complex stakeholders
- Experience in managing multiple projects and prioritising competing deadlines
- Demonstrated ‘commercial’ approach to compliance risk management
- Well-developed interpersonal skills coupled with sound oral and written communications skills
