Primary objective
The Manager Secretariat is responsible for providing an efficient and effective ministerial liaison service to the Minister and the Agency
and high-level support to the Office of the Under Treasurer.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Oversight the provision of an efficient and timely ministerial liaison service to the Agency and the Minister.
2. Manage the day-to-day administrative, information management, and personnel functions of the Secretariat.
3. Manage the coordination of ministerial and Legislative Assembly briefings, Cabinet and associated documentation to the Minister.
4. Act as a contact point for information for the Minister’s office and other government agencies.
5. Provide a support service to the Executive, including coordination of agendas, and meeting papers for executive level regular
meetings.
6. Provide information to departmental staff on protocol and procedural matters as they relate to Ministerial
correspondence.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability to manage a highly interactive team.
2. High level liaison and communication (both oral and written) skills.
3. Detailed knowledge and understanding of Ministerial, Cabinet and legislative processes and prior experience in Ministerial liaison
related work.
4. Well-developed organisational skills including discretion and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, within an area subject to change.
5. Relevant personal attributes including discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality, enthusiasm, flexibility, political awareness and
sensitivity.
6. Ability to use Windows packages, including Microsoft Outlook and familiarity with TRIM and Share Point or ability to quickly acquire
this knowledge.
7. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Experience in policy related work, flexible attitude to working hours.
2. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field e.g. Business, Management and/or Project Management.
3. Familiarity with structure and activities of the Department and a working knowledge of the legislation it administers.
