Position Summary
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll play a critical hands-on role in the construction and installation of our automated indoor vertical farms. You’ll be responsible for assembling and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment with a focus on precision, safety and reliability.
This role is ideal for a mechanically-minded individual who enjoys working in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment. TIG welding experience, particularly with stainless steel, is a welcome advantage and strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and install mechanical components and systems across automated farming infrastructure.
- Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs and modifications on plant and machinery during build and commissioning phases.
- Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, piping schematics and engineering documentation.
- Conduct mechanical testing, alignments and calibration of automated systems to meet performance standards.
- Support site set-up, equipment layout and installation activities in line with build schedules and engineering plans.
- Maintain tools, workshop equipment and mechanical parts inventory.
- Contribute to safety practices by identifying risks and complying with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, electricians and fabricators to deliver seamless mechanical integration across projects.
Skills & Experience
Required:
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or equivalent (e.g., Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade).
- Strong mechanical assembly, fitting and maintenance experience.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, diagrams and technical instructions.
- High attention to detail with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
- Safety-first mindset and familiarity with risk assessments and SWMS.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Nice to Have:
- TIG welding experience, ideally with stainless steel.
- Experience in automated systems, robotics, or large-scale mechanical installations.
- Forklift, EWP or confined space certification.
- Previous exposure to food-safe, clean build, or GMP environments.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
