Community Worker for Children and Young People (part of FaPMI Program), Wodonga Adult Community Mental Health, permanent part time.

The Community Worker for Children and Young People (CYP) will be a valued member of the Family where a Parent has a Mental Illness team within the Wodonga Adult Community Mental Health team.
The CYP worker will work with young carers to provide support through identifying exisiting supports, and facilitating more formal supports to fill identified gaps.
The successful applicant will have:
  • Cert IV in Community Development or equivalent
  • Knowledge of young caring roles and the impact on carers’ health and wellbeing
  • Knowledge of mental health and other community service delivery systems
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • A commitment to family-inclusive practice and maximising opportunities and support for children, young people and families
  • Understanding of the dynamics and risks of family violence
  • Understanding of confidentiality, consent and information sharing legislation.

Mental Health Services at Albury Wodonga Health
AWH is an Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, providing mental health treatment, care and support, including delivering Alcohol and Other Drugs services. We deliver 10 specialised community-based programs, along with three acute care services and three facilities dedicated to recovery and rehabilitation. We also provide services supporting families coping with parental mental illness and facilitating connections to carer consultants.
Our Mental Health and Wellbeing teams comprise mental health clinicians with a background in nursing, occupational therapy, social work, and psychology, all of whom have experience in helping people through a range of therapies. The diversity of our service provides a range of experiences for our team and will assist you in expanding and embedding your clinical practice skills.
