Mental Health Practitioner | Supporting Recovery from FDSV| Liverpool & Campbelltown
Anglicare and CatholicCare have collaborated to deliver a life-changing program called Supporting Recovery. As mission-aligned organisations, Anglicare and CatholicCare care about people and our mission is to make a genuine difference in the lives of people in the community.
The Supporting Recovery program delivers Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) trauma-informed mental health care services within South West Sydney to support victim-survivors in their longer-term recovery.
This is a Maximum Term (till June 2026) part time role, 3-4 days a week (negotiable), based at Campbelltown.
Key elements of the service include:
  • Victim-survivors of FDSV and their families have free access for up to 2 years to evidence-based trauma informed mental health care.
  • Provision of psychological therapies and other appropriate wellbeing and social interventions.
  • Collaborations with other services to facilitate coordination of care and assist with referral pathways.
  • Community engagement activities to increase community awareness.
Purpose of the role:
Provide family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV) trauma-informed mental health care services, including psychological therapies and other appropriate wellbeing and social interventions within South Western Sydney to support victim-survivors in their longer-term recovery.
Key Responsibilities (not limited to):
  • Ensure the program’s delivery of best practice psychological therapies and wellbeing interventions.
  • Provide trauma-informed mental health care services to victim-survivors of FDSV.
  • Ensure services are welcoming, accessible, compassionate, person-centred, trauma informed, culturally safe and inclusive of all who present. Include perspectives of First Nations peoples, people with disability, members of LGBTQIA+ communities and people from CALD communities.
  • Work collaboratively with Local Care Team, Catholic Care colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure a positive experience for program clients.
  • Ensure services are consistent with the Supporting Recovery Model of Care.
  • Work with Anglicare Clinical Leads and Catholic Care Clinical Leads, seeking supervision and support as required and needed including attending monthly group supervision, individual 1:1 supervision, and case consultation as needed.
  • Adhere to program risk management framework to identify and mitigate program risks
  • Contribute to the safety culture by keeping the workplace complying with safe work practices and support other team members to comply with safe work practices.
  • Given the nature of the program/services, travel across South Western Sydney and additional hours of work may be required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience needed:
  • Tertiary degree qualification applicable to role – i.e. psychology, counselling, social work, or similar.
  • Registration with relevant professional body – i.e. minimum level 2 ACA, PACFA provisional, AHPRA, AASW mental health social worker accreditation.
  • Training and experience in at least two of the following psychological therapies and interventions: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Hoping to Overcome PTSD through Empowerment (HOPE), Intervention Model, Family therapies/Narrative therapy, Occupational therapies, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Mindfulness
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
  • 2+ years experience working with clients experiencing mental health challenges and FDSV (mandatory).
  • 5+ years experience and best practice knowledge of working with children and young people with experiences of trauma.
  • Play-therapy, sand-therapy or other child-centred/led best-practice modality training and experience required.
  • Previous relevant training and experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and CALD clients (desirable).
  • Police check and WWCC.
